Eric Forsyth has been deep water sailing on small yachts for more than fifty years, racking up a total of more than 317,000 nautical miles, a total exceeded by very few, if any, amateur small boat skippers in the world. He has made many significant passages mostly aboard his Westsail 42 cutter Fiona. He has survived and dealt with serious potential disasters including a dismasting, a sinking and groundings all over the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic. At sea he has dealt with countless minor emergencies caused by bad weather, gear failure and medical problems and injuries. For more than twenty years these have been documented almost in real time here on his website.
