Eric sailed Fiona over 320K nautical miles. These distances were culled from eight successive logbooks. Failure of the distance log is not uncommon due to mechanical or electronic problems, or weeding. In this event the distance was calculated using GPS or Loran waypoints, which is always less than the distance actually sailed, thus the numbers are conservative.

So sad to hear of Erick’s passing. Sure he is sailing around the world up there, and driving his cars. Ed Labounty
Thank you Ed, that’s a nice sentiment. He really enjoyed your company.
I’m sorry to hear of Erics passing and my condolences to his family and friends.
I had the pleasure of meeting Eric for a brief couple hours in early 2023 when I drove up from Philadelphia to pick up an old radio he was getting rid of. Our conversations led us to realize that we both had interests in engineering, ham radio and cars. Eric told me of his time spent at Brookhaven Labs while working on super conductors. He even had a sample of the cable they developed – which I found captivating.
After getting the heavy radio out of his basement, he gave me a tour of his car collection and we stood in his garage discussing our various cars.
He invited me to join him for lunch but the weather was cold and rainy and I had a 3 hour drive south through lots of Long Island traffic so I respectfully declined.
Before I left he gave me his book which I asked him to sign. I know nothing of boating but read that book each day until I finished it. After finishing the book, all I can say is that “Impressive” is the ultimate understatement.
I came away with two things from our brief encounter;
First, there are people who live their lives and then there are people wo DO things with their lives.
Second, I should have gone to lunch with him………

Hi Tom- Thank you for this lovely sentiment. It was so nice to read. He was excited to give you the radio, because he knew how much you would appreciate it. It made him happy to do it. The radio meant a lot to him, I’m glad he found someone as kind as you to give it to. – Brenda
