It has been rather cold  for work on Fiona for the past couple of weeks.   But today, Sunday, the temp struggled past 40F I went down to Weeks to try the new GPS receiver.  I first got it in December, it displayed the boat position fine, but the auxiliary data bus, which feeds GPS position to the AIS, SSB and VHF radio was not working.  I sent it back to Furuno, and they decided I had to pick two different wires for position data compared to the original GPS.  Old unit had GPS NEMA data on blue and white wires.   New unit uses green and yellow.  I hooked it up and Lo! there was the boat’s GPS position on the AIS.  I still have to make the wiring permanent, that will need a warm day.
